Capilano producing WELL, I’M back from fishing on the north coast, and so are the weekly fish- ing reports for our local waters, * At the present time, the mouth -of the Fraser River. is producing ‘large numbers of pinks, with some sockeye and coho mixed in.. It seems* that the most consis- tert hot area is fairly close to the mouth between the north arm jetty-and the middle arm. Fish just outside the shallows between 20 and 80 feet (6 to 24 m), Note: this area is closed to chinook of al! sizes. The mouth of the Capilano is -also producing good numbers of coho and some chinook. _ The low slack was producing well just outside the marker using five herring just off the bottom. On the flood tide, the ‘rip’? on the Lions Gate side of the. marker is the best spot. A third. alternative is Hole-in- the-Wall, north to Sunset Marina. There aren’t many fish here, but the few that are there are good good coho numbers David Korseh TIGHT LINES sized chinook, from 15 pounds (6.75 to 13.5 kg). Kiwis edge local ruggers THE CAPILANO junior cugby squad played its first game of the upcoming season recently against Napier Boys School from New Zealand, and if early: indications prove correct, the club is in for another banner season. The boys from Klahanie Park lost to the world-class Kiwis by a close 13-10 score. : The game marked the final leg of the New Zealand team’s Cana- dian tour, including a .72-0 bom- bing of Edmonton and a 45-5 thrashing of Calgary. After a quick start by the Capilanos -— ted. by forwards Chris Wortan and Matt Shaunessy —- Napier battled back to even the score at five at the half. With just minutes left in the game, and the score knotted at 10, the North Shore juniors commit- ted a number of mental mistakes that. allowed Glyna Smith to kick a field goal to win the match 13- 10. Napier Boys School fields 16 teams in a school of only 850 stu- dents, and consistently places in the top four teams in all of New Zealand. ; The Capilano's, season gets under way for the juniors this Saturday.
