Cotcil should conduct a thorough study and carefully consider the financial as weu as the environmental impact on the taxpaying TUs- idents of the district before considering any plans for rezoning these lands, . Why did council not ask for a financial report? This seems the responsible course of action, What percentage of these lands is actually slated for development? Perhaps there will still “be sufficient lands remaining for parks and recreation and green space. . The tax burden on the present base of taxpayers is already strained, judging by the threat of school closures that have recently been announced. Responsible development will ensure that we have both a livable’ community as well as a needed source of income from development and an increased tax base to maintain our current level of services in the district. In addition, somie of the land in question is owned by local private “residents, who may some day wish to build homes on those properties. The district has a responsibility to those owners, - These issues will affect us all. Therefore, council must carefully - consider the impact of this. rezoning. «More facts and details must be gathered before an informed deci- sion can be made. And, to ensure. fair representation, all the residents “of this district must be heard, . -~ * Gordon Fritsch: -North Vancouver B.C.A.A. - A.R.A. - APPROVED ‘AirCare - ‘Gov.
