POWER SMART Inc., a
subsidiary of B.C. Hydro,
recently announced that
Noma of Scarsborough,
Ontario, Alderbrook of
Pickering, Ontario, and
Universal of Boucherville,
Quebec, will be carrying the
energy efficiency program
logo on their outdoor
Christmas light packaging
this falt.

Director of marketing
Janet Benjamin says,
“We're thrilled that these
three big firms have come
on side. This means the
Christmas light market in
Canada will be filled with

energy-efficient products.
Given the very high
awareness level of Power
Smart in B.C. and its rapid
growth across Canada, I can
foresee the public opting
strongly for these decorative
lights.””

The outdoor Christmas
lights will use five watts
each and save, on average,
50 watts per string of 25
lights. Presently, the market
is dominated by 7-watu light
sets. Indoor miniature lights
are considered energy effi-
cient.
