Local homeowners
sought for study

SHELTAIR SCIENTIFIC Ltd.
will pay $30 to Vancouver-area
homeowners who participate in a
Canada-wide research study
designed to obtain an accurate pic-
ture of the condition of venting
and ventilation equipment in
houses.

In addition to the $30, home-
owners will receive a verbal report
on the condition of their chimneys
as well as air quality results on
their house.

Vancouver has been selected as
one of ten communities for inclu-
sion in the study. The research
study is funded by Canada Mor-
tgage and Housing Corporation
and will be carried out by trained
and certified technicians.

The test crew is composed of an
experienced engineering

technologist and a certified heating
tradesperson, using the best tools
available.

Sheltair Scientific Ltd. is
responsible for the overall
organization and design of the
project, as well as testing in three
communities. Research companies
associated with Sheltair will test
homes in the remaining com-
munities.

A Vancouver-based company,
Sheltair has been conducting
building science research for the
past nine years and has carried out
similar Canada-wide studies in the
past.
