16 — Friday, August 28, 1998 -- North Shore News Deep Cove Daze will color the Cove with a wall mural DEEP Cove Daze returns to Panorama Park this Saturday. ‘Two musical stages, an artisans’ marketplace and midway games will run the waterfront park into a one-day fiir, from noon to 7 p.m. on Aug. 29. Story-telling and children’s games will also take place outdoors at the Deep Cove Cultural Centre on Gallant Avenue as part of events. The emphasis is on family fun, with kid- friendly activities like pony ndes, a dunk rank and mini-golf, said event organizer Fiona Douglas-Crampton, “But it’s really for every- body. We've got a for of adult stuff too.” Henna tattoos, hair wrapping, tarot card readings and a beer garden should appeal to adults, she said. Seven-year-old actor Brittany Tiplady, who plays the role of Jordan Black on Millenniam will make a special guest appearance. Visitors are also encouraged to observe Mission artist Doug Cariou at work on the community’s new outdoor mural at the north- cast corner Of Panorama Drive and Gallant Avenue. Cariou was conimissioned by Deep Coho fest seeks bands THE Coho Festival has an opportunity for a local group or band to get some audience exposure by performing dur- ing the event. The festival runs Sunday, Sept. 13 at West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park. The cost of the mural is $6,500, towards which the District of North Vancouver has pledged $2,000 and the Deep Cove Community Association is to make a denation, said district councillor Lisa Muri. Proceeds of Saturday’s Deep Cove Daze, which organizers are calling Color the Cove, will go towards paying the balance of the cost.
