Over four days you helped us pack, tape, stack and store over 450 boxes of books into four mobile mini-storage con- tainers. Thanks to North Vancouver School District Librarian Marilyn Aldworth, who invited North Shore schools to send their unneed- ed books to a central depor in time for our collection dates. Thanks t) Dawn Kaloun, a parent - from © Handsworth school, who made. it possible for’ us to have the books — about 100 boxes — let over from the: Handsworth schooi spring festival sale. In the apologetic frenzy of the lunatic fringe wishing to placate the Haida people by renaming the Queen Charlotte Islands “Haida Gwaii,” we should first ask the British government to apologize to the French. Britain rudely ignored the naming of those Islands the Kerouart Islands on Aug. 19, 1786, by the cminent French navigator- explorer, La Perouse. Months later in 1787 Royal Mavy Caprain George Dixon called them the. Quee Charlottes after his ship.
