Main breaks A BROKEN water main along Mount Seymour Parkway early Friday morning caused extensive road damage. A spokesman for North Vancouver District’s works yard said the water main broke at about 3:30 a.m. on Friday on Mount Seymour Parkway between Fairway Drive and Dollarton Highway. District wosks crews closed off that section of Mount Seymour Parkway. The break in the water main was expected to be repaired by 12 p.m. Friday, but the district spokesman said it would take several days to repair the extensive water damage done to Mount Seymour Parkway. “it’s causing us problems in terms of the traffic. It’s just another break. These breaks happen from time to time,’’ said the spokesman. Sex charges A FORMER North Vancouver childcare werker has been charged with numerous sex-related offences. North Vancouver RCMP Staff Sgt. Ron Babcock said the charges against David Austin, 26, of Nanaimo, in- clude five counts of indecent exposure; five counts of indecent exposure to 2 person under 14 years of age and eight counts of sexual assault (o a person under 14 ycars of age. The charges were laid against Austin in North Van- couver provincial court. Babcock said there are nine alleged victims involved, all under the age of 14. Austin is scheduled toa appear in North Vancouver provincial court on Feb. 3, 1993 for a preliminary hear- No body NORTH VANCOUVER rescue crews were called to Lyon Creek just before noon on Thursday after the police received an anonymous telephone tip that there was a body lying in the creek. A North Vancouver RCMP spokesman said the police received a call from the Park and Tilford shopping cer- tre that there was a body in the river but after an exten- sive search of the creek and nearby Lynamouth Park, no body was fouad. By Layne Christensen Contributing Writer North Vancouver City Council resolved Monday evening to re- quest that the provincial govern- ment prohibit the sale and distribution of ‘‘Serial Killer Board Game — First Edition.”’ Coun. Barbara Sharp said she was ‘‘extremely appalled’’ at the theme of the board game. “We're continually fighting in this country against the issue of violence against women,"’ she said, ‘‘and | don’t want to see this country try to promote this kind of game.’ The game, which puts players in the roles of seria! killers who compete for number of kills, is not currently available on the North Shore. But Robert Dell, The Games People at Lonsdale Quay, told the News he’s received three requests for the game in the last month.
