Cypress Bowi longtime
W. Van recreation area

THE POPULARITY of Cypress
Bow! and Hollyburn Ridge in West
Vancouver as a year-round recre-
ation area dates back to the 1920s.

At that time Vancouver residents
found the only access was by ferry.
{In 1925, Hollyburn Ski Camp
was established in the presently
still-standing Hollyburn Lodge.
Many more log cabins were built in

the 1920s, and in 1948 Hollyburn
received its first single chairlift.

Cypress Bowl and Hollyburn
Ridge received greater access after
the construction of a road from
the Upper Levels Highway, and
were established as a class provin-
cial park in 1975,

On January 9, 1976, the skiing
facilities were opened to the
public.
