Much to Lawrence's horror, he finds ‘that Tuttle, an all- American, irrepressible chubby-cheeked savior of the. oppressed, is . stationed with him and a: Jewish- American volunteer called Beth Wexler (Rita Wilson). FEELS TRAPPED Lawrence, having failed to seduce Beth on the plane, feels trapped with the idéal- istic woman and the gung-ho Tuttle. .While Tom sets out to build a bridge and Beth Sets up a medical clinic, the out-of-place rich boy takes solace in teaching the locals . new forms of gambling. to complete the bridge in six weeks.
