AS THE SOMBRE
days of a failing
economy meld with the
cooler days of autumn,
more and more North
Shore shoppers will be
looking for budget fall
fashions.

One lower-priced line of
ladies-wear, Koret, recently
previewed their carly fall
line-up of fashions which are
designed particularly for
versatility, economy, and
easy care.

Almost all of the clothes
are machine washable,
boasts company president

portant that they are classic
rather than ‘trendy’.

Not surprisingly, Koret
designs their clothes to
appeal to a middle-aged
market, what they call “the
30 plus misses.”

To please this group of
women, they have just
recently added a number of
garments made of stretch
fabrics. These imcinde a
cheaper version of the
European stretch corduroy
which has previously been
popular in the top line
boutiques, stretch flannel,

doubleknit, jersey, tweed,
and even stretch suede.

These stretch fabrics
bend, sway, and bulge as you
do without pulling and
creasing, and some of them
have- quite a high natural
fibre content as well.

Besides easy. care and long
life of the garments them-
selves, the Koret company
is working on the “customer
for life” market. This is the
woman who buys the same
brand of clothing from the
time she is 25 til she turns 80
or 90 years old.

The only problem is, if
these clothes are going to
appeal to ali these women
they need to be bland, and
indeed they are.

There is a_ perfectly
hideous selection of pale
blue stretch denim with frills”
and pale plaid separates
called the Country Blues
line, and the selection of '
evening wear is dominated
by standard black velvet
long skirt, pants and jacket,
and gold glitter top.

But for everyday office
wear there are some outfits
that have the hallmarks of
perennial favorites - they
look comfortable, practical
and easy to clean.

And they have whole \

series of outfits that are

made to mix and match.
