At first light he started off through the bush and when he heard a rescue helicopter that was looking for him he walked further up the ndge he was on towards the chopper and once away from the noise of the water of Nelson Creek, near where he had slept, he could hear the rescuers WRONG TURN Search master Ron Royston said Yuen was found in the Nelson Creek basin, having taken a wrong turning on the trail down the mountain, and had been heading towards Upper Levels Highway He descmbed the area as being “Considerably rougher terrain than the trail ~ Yuen was unharmed by the ordeal and after being helped down to the Black Mountain turnoff on the highway by the searchers he settled down in the back of the rescue truck to grab some much needed sleep. While Yuen slept, search master Royston told the News how the hiker had got into his predicament. He had been climbing the mountain with three other fmends and at about the 3,000 ft. level he began to lag behind.
