The Web site’s Massachusetts-based creators are calling, this the most authoritative gardening-lifestyle des- tination online. Launched in June in partner- ship with the National Gardening, Association, the U.S.’s largest not-for-profit educational and research-based gardening association, the Web site includes an online database of more than 17,000 answered questions relating to the purchase and care of flowers and plants for your garden. The site has also secured exclusive online distribution rights to top horticultural Web for advi brands Breck’s of Holland, Spring Hill Nurseries, and Gurney’s Seed sand Nursery Company. Canadian “e-tailers” are also going hoe-to-hoe on the Internet. In March, Toronto-based book retailer Indigo announced its purchase of Cruickshank’s, one of the country’s mast established flower and plant retailers. Indigo, which will open in Lynn Valley Centre this fall, estimates that Canadians spend $8 bil- lion on plants and garden products each year. An online garden products business through cruickshank@indigo.ca is planned but not yet up and running.
