If anyone should know about environmental bylaws and permits, it would be Mel Kotyk who bragged pub- licly two years ago in the Coquitlam News about the iority of North Vancouver Dorricr’ 's envircnmental bylaws. Ifindeed Mr. Kotyk has bypassed proper procedures or used the bureaucratic process to his own advantage he should be fired, His actions are much worse than those of an ordi- nary citizen since he was not ignorant of the law, but arro- gant and contemptuous of the process and therefore should not be allowed to stay on the ublic payroll. \¢ Spra: Port Moody” Free initiol Consultation 988-6321 @ 408-145 Chadwick Court N. I strongly object to the proposal for amendment application: 241 East 23rd St. The North Vancouver City Development Services Report states, “A land use study in the 1980s concluded that these lands should be devel- oped as single-family dwellings.” This was in response to several attempts to develop this property into multi-family zoning which the neighbor- hood did not support. My children and 1 enjoy living in our small house on a single-family lot. The view of Grouse Mountain from our deck is wonderful. The neigh- bors are friendly and we appreciate the recreation, community facilities and ser- vices that’ currently exist in our neighborhood. Eleven years ago when | purchased this property, the North Shore Alliance Church was in carly construction. Before I purchased the house, I visited city hall to find out the entire extent of the church construction. Upon completion, the church exceeded the height shown in the orginal plans. As a result, I have a view of the church sanctuary rather than the Lions. If the proposed expansion Project is to go ahead, I will also lose the view of Grouse Mounrzain and will be looking at the back of a three-storey concrete wall. : 201- Beat the high cost of air conditioning with a new high tech evaporative air cooler from Australia. For example, last Sunday 200 cars were parked in and around the church. The church lot as well as the recreation centre and court- house parking lots were all filled as was parking on St. Georges Avenue and 23rd Street. The proposed expansion only provides for 144 parking stalls. This, of course, will be entirely inadequate after the church facility quadruples in size. Due to the high concen- WOLFE. CHEV-OLDS COD¥ ZOESIAK Picks of the week - tration of civic and recreation facilities in the area, traffic is already very heavy. This will impact the safety of children and seniors attending recre- ation facilities. The proposed expansion will decrease our property value and make this neighbor- hood much less desirable to live in or to move to. As I have stated in my pre- vious letters to mayor and council, IT am not against development in our neighbor- hood. I am against special consideration and “spot” rTrRooUGcINa KIRIUM rezoning. In discussion with my neighbors it is clear that we do not support the instiru- tional development proposal by the North Shore Alliance Church and we expect staff to recommend rejection of this proposal. ! trust that mayor and council will act in support of the residents of our neignbor- hood and ensure that the property in question finally be developed for single- family dwellings.
