David Allan Weir Contributing Writer THE North Shore Griffins were virtual no-shows on Monday night as they suited up for the last game of their inaugural season in the Pacific International Junior Hockey League. The Griffins fell to the Delta Ice Hawks 7-2 with the outcome all but determined in the first period. The home squad trailed from the opening face off as Delta’s Geoff Heather skated in untouched to score against Griffins goalie Tomo Ushida just 13 scconds into the first period. Delta would count another marker at 5:29 of the first as Ryan Brown’s behind-the-net centering pass hit Ushida’s skate and deflected into the net. Brown would add his see- ond goal 3:12 later on a two- on-one rush. At the 12:09 mark of the first period he added his third tally of the contest for the nat- ural hat-trick and what turned out to be the game winning goal. The Ice Hawks out-shot the Griffins 14-2 and went to the dressing room at the end of the firse with an insur- mountable 4-0 lead. The Griffins appeared to concentrate more on defence in the second period allowing just one Delta goal as Brendon Wust’s shot from the right wing bear Ushida at fame!
