-niertainers offer fire tips Fire Prevention Week events geared to kids “AN ounce of preven- tion is worth a pound of cure.” So said Benjamin Franklin, the inventor of eyeglasses, the fire-safe Franklin stove and the first person to organize a properly equipped firefighting company. Franklin wanted to stop fires from destroying forests, cities and homes. His words caution us to be aware of the hazard and to take steps to prevent disaster. Fire safery education is the business of all modern fre departments.
