Disabled career program called success

CAPILANO COLLEGE, Lower Mainland canployers
and CEIC have joined forces to make the first Career

‘Choices training program for the learning disabled a

success —- 10 of the 12 graduates are already working.
yy Career Choices is a Canadian Employment and
Immigration job: entry program that began in July
1987. The program provides learning disabled stu-
dents with ‘a choice of jobs and matches them with

‘ employers who provide en-the-job training.

College instructors provide classcoant instruction
and onosite supervision.
. The seven-month program relies heavily on the will-
ingness of employers to become responsible for hiring
and training learning disabled adults

Most‘of the March 2 grads have found work in such
diverse. areas as bricklaying. phot opraphy and the
food service industry. Other grads; chose to continue
their educations and develop other job skills.
