Jail term for mischief A SMASHED window has resulted in three months in jail and a two-year probation for a 22-year-old North Vancouver woman. Leslie Cummings was charged with mischief in connection with a July 3, 1985, incident in Fort St. John where she allegedly smashed a window of Northwest Management Ltd. Appearing Monday before North Vancouver provincial court Judge §.K. Shaw, Cummings was handed the two-year probation with the condition she provide evidence that she is actively looking for a job or attending school, Cummings, who pleaded guilty to the offence June 24, 1986, was also told not to change her place of residence without the approval of her probation officer. Fire alarms not reported NORTH VANCOUVER City Fire Department say many apart- ment dwellers are not reporting ringing alarms, On Aug. 22 the NVCFD heard, after the fact, that the alarm was tinging in 3 three-storey apartment building in the 100 block of Wesi Oth Street in North Van City. Purse thief is grabbed A WOMAN walking along (Sth Street and Chesterfield had her purse snatched, but two police officers in the area, a police service dog and several civilians were able to apprehend the thief. A 20-year-old North Vancouver man was arrested and charges ase pending. The purse snatching incident oceurred August 15 at 12:50 p.m., but two previous offences are believed linked to this man. Eleanor Paul, 31, was charged along with three others in connec- tion with two counts of illegal sale and possession of salmon caught when the Fraser Riser was closed to commercial fishing. Also charged in the July 25 inci- dent is 42-year-old Jessica James of Chilliwack, 51-vear-old Willard Joseph Michell of Harrison Mills and $4-year-old Benny James of Chilliwack. Benny James and Michell are also charged with three other counts of illegal sale, purchase and possession of the unlawfully harvested salmon. All of the alleged offences oc- curred in the District of North Vancouver.
