Oregon launches season SEVENTEEN ART galleries on the Central Oregon Coast are Causing a wave to develop in the area. ART WAVE Il 1s ten days of special art related activities starting Friday, May 4 and continuing through Sunday, May 13. Coastal visitors will find demonstrations of art techni- ques, special art showings, entertainment and unusually large quantities of the high quality visual art by over 700 artists represented by the Central Oregon Coast Art Galleries. Every Art Gallery has ot fered an art object as a door prize The total value of the prizes 1s over $2000, and tn- cludes paintings, jewelry and pottery. Persons visiting ten galleries during Art Wave Il will be eligible for the door prize drawings Participating galleries wall be easy to find as each is fly- ing a flowing wave banner, reminiscent of the trade mark banners of Medieval Europe. Art Wave originated by Depoe Bay artists and gallery owner Richard Hazelton, who decided that a special ac- tivity should be planned in the tourist lull after spring vacation and prior to Memorial Day. Since most ot the finest art in Oregon is represented in the Central Oregon Coast Art Galleries and there are still some peo- ple who are unaware of how many galleries and = artists there are here on the coast, Richard decided to see if a tesuval would get more of our coastal visitors (oO drop in and look around.
