Despite this, almost three out of four who have already made up their minds about the next federal election Conservative. These were the findings of a North Shore News poli con- ducted 11 days ago. A geographically balanced sample of 407 households from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay was asked: (1) **Can you name your federal member of parliament?’’ (2) “‘If the federal election were held now, which party would you vote for?’’ On the first question, 38 per cent could name their present MP, 57 per cent say they will vote By NEWS STAFF could not and 5 per cent said they ‘‘didn’t know’’ or refus- ed to answer. In only three neighborhoods — Capilano, Dundarave and Horseshoe Bay —— was the percentage of those who could name their MP greater than those who couldn’t. In all 11° other North Shore neighborhoods polled those who didn’t know their MP were in a majority. On the second question, a total of 52 per cent of the respondents either said they *‘didn’t know’’ which party they would vote for or refus- ed to answer. Among the remaining half of the respondents, 73 per cent said Conservative, 15 per cent said Liberal, 10 per cent said NDP and 2 per cent said other parties. In North Vancouver the score was: Conservatives 69 per cent, Liberal 18 per cent, NDP 11 per cent, others 2 per cent. In West Vancouver the Tories did significantly better at 84 per cent, with the Liberals and NDP tied at 8 per cent each.
