Helmut Michler was born ‘in Czethoslavakia but has been a resident .of Canada since 1951 and. of North Van- . couver since “1964.. He ‘started to write in his early teens; at first it was only a hobby, but now he looks on writing as a full-time career. His first major writing was for two underground news- papers during the second World War. Writing under the name Kurtis Daniel, he has had articles published on political economy, finance, and sociology. A series of travel articles which he wrote while living in Mexico for six months proved popular. Of these he says, “I sold nineteen out of twenty, and I finally decided what was wrong with the twen- tieth, which was on bull- fighting. I had _ allowed myself to preach. I should have been more objective and treated the subject more lightly.” He is a man who learns from experience. Mr. Michler works on more than one novel at a time.
