Dog team tumbles

WEST VANCOUVER Police Const. Jeff Young and
police service dog Recky both received minor injuries
Wednesday, June 30, while tracking a suspect in Lawson
Creek near the 1700 block of Inglewood Ave.

While it pursuit of a robbery suspect, Young fell eight
feet (2.3 m) on to several Jarge rocks in the creek bed.

Young was transported to Lions Gate Hospital where
he was treated for a back injury, and tater released.

Rocky was sore and bruised after the chase.

AirCare vote

AIRCARE WORKERS will vote on a proposed contract
on Monday in a move that may end (he two-month

strike.

Detaiis of the proposed settlement are not being made

public until the vote is held.
AirCare workers, numbering 320, were unionized last
year. They are seeking a first contract.
The B.C. Government. Employees’ Union (BCGEU),

The BCGEU is bargaining with Ebco-Hamilton Part-
ners, a private company that was awarded the AirCare
contract under the previous provincial government, -..

FAULTY ELECTRICAL wiring is the suspected cause
of a house: fire at 1186 Chamberlain Dr. on Thursday,
June 24, in North Vancouver. The fire resulted in an
estimated $50,000 damage...

“\:The fire started at 3 a.m..in the home’s basement, ac-
cording to a North Vancouver District Fire Department
(NVDFD) spokesman.

_ Three adults were home at the time.

- No one was reported injured.

‘» According to. the NVDFD spokesman, the residents
were alert:d to the biaze when they woke up and noticed
some light on the bushes outside their home.

‘., All three floors of the home, including the roof, were
damaged in the fire.
