The event was Fantily Services of the North 's fifth annual fall fashion show, “Haute Stuff,” held to raise money for the organisation's sexual abuse program. Gala-goe7y were treated to collections by some of B.C.’s top designers. Nancy Lord's fall solleection opened the show, featuring long, silky jackets and coars, lots of shim- mering iridescent fabric and one especialiy show: stopping Jong, collared stirt with wide stripes of sheer and solid fabric. Neat, tailored suits were shown dy RozeMerie Cuevas for jacqueline Conoir, each with standour details: double the short skirts; iong, fitted jack flared pants; and ankle-length extra-long slits Lingerie from Patricia Ficldwalker ranged trem delicious pastel and face confections, to a cozy quilted robe and draniatic jewel-toned gowns. Particularly cyecatching were gowns, pale pink at the shoulders which deep- enced like a sunset ta dark burgsndy at the ankle-length hem. Animal prints, sheers, velvets and basic biack were all inc in the cvening wear shown by Feizal Virani while Catherine Regehr’s cuilection was awash in glitter: long shifts in shades of iced coffee and marine, and full, shoul- der-baring taffeta gowns. Men’s wear, from The Mensroom in West Vancouver, ranged from casual = wear (cuffed corduroy pants and close-fitting knit shirts) to knit vests under relaxed jackets, and to business wear and evening wes Each of the design- ers also donated ther time to dress a hand- made teddy bear for the five auction after the fash- ion show. The designer bears were in keeping with the theme for the evening — other bears came with trips, jewelry and art. Even the teddy bears which served as centrepieces on the tables were sold by silent auction.
