The proposed closure of the Capilano Sportsmens Club by the West Vancouver Parks Board is iniquitous. The club house was, in the carly 1950s, two “huts” left over by the army in Ambleside Park, given to the Air Cadets, who in turn agreed to share them with the Capilano Sportsmens Club. The “huts” were towed from Marine Drive and 13th Street to the present site, by members of both groups which still share the same facilities. The club house was upgraded, modernized, etc. by members of both groups, the majority of the work being done, or goods donated by, members. This has been a con- tinuing process.
