Museum presents 2 fash-
ion-orient2d exhibit called
Panache: 200 years of the Fash-
jonable Woman. Created by Ivan
Sayers, the exhibit explores the
socio-economic history behind the
costumes women have worn over
the centuries. Panache  docent
guided tours are available six
limes a day and are free with
museum admission. The exhibit

ning its 1991 seminar showcasing
international sewing experts and
exhibits. This year’s lineup in-
cludes North Vancouver’s Hazel
Boyd of Tex-Mar Seminars, San-
dra Betzina of Power Sewing,
Margaret Islander of Islander
Sewing Systems, and Roberta Carr
of The Fabric Carr. Fashion his-
torian Ivan Sayers will also be giv-
ing a two-hour presentation and

WV woman wins
model search

WEST VANCOUVER’S  Veryan
Wolsak won the provincial finals
of the Black Velvet Model Search
on Wednesday night at Richard's
on Richards.

Wolsak, 21. was selected from
12 finalists to represent B.C. at
the Black Velvet national finals in
Calgary on June 27.

“Pocan’t believe it’ said
Wolsak. “i am actually going 10
be representing B.C. at the na-
tionals.**

Hundreds of B.C.) women
entered the model search which
has launched the careers of such
models as Kim Alexis. Christie
Brinkley, Cybill Shepherd and
Cheryl Tiegs.

a degree with a major in physical
education and a minor ia biology
and art.

At the pational finals, Wolsak
will compete against 15 other fi-
nalists representing Atberta,
Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and On-
taria.

finals will) receive a modetling
portfolio from the Judy Welsh
Aveney based in Toronto, @ pro-
motional appearance at the North
American finals, and an opportu-
nity to appear in promotional ac-
tivities on behalf of Black Velvet
Canadian Whisky.
