ALL THREE North Shore Cricket Club teams were in
action recently, winning two out of the three games.

The NSCC First XI had a convincing win over UBC
Occasionals at Norgate Park, amassing 149 runs for
the loss of five wickets, to which UBC could only
replay with 64 all out.

Team captain Bill Sims got his squad off to a fine
start with 75 not out, and for the second weekend ina
row Jim Mitchell had a good knock with 42.

When NSCC took to the field, Chris Tottle showed
consistent length and accuracy in earning five wickets
for only 10 runs, with Ken Bradshaw bowling well to
earn two wickets and Aaron Tejani claiming one for
five.

Veteran wicket-keeper Peter Pisani looked sharp

behind the stumps with two fine catches.

On the same day, a somewhat depleted Third XI
travelled to Abbotsford to lose a good game in spite
of fine innings by Jamie Ede, who made 55 of the
NSCC total of 95 runs.

Abbotsford made 156 runs for the win.

The next day, the Second XI won easily at Spencer
Field against UBC Varsity, retiring the UBC team for
72 runs, which NSCC attained for the loss of only two
wickets.

Salim Nathani had a rewarding afternoon, bowling
an excellent seven wickets for only 2! runs, as did
Doug Ede, who led the visitors batting with 30 not out
and distinguished himself with some fine fielding.

Westwood racetrack recently.
Langford, 49, was on the grid in
the 16-car field, only one second

off his track record in ‘D’ Sports
Racing that he shattered in 1987.

During the race, Langford was
only half a second behind the lead
car, when his brake lights went
sour, which, under race rules, rz-
quired a pit stop.

Langford and pit crew — in-
cluding son Andrew Langford and
Tom Munro — repaired the lights,
and despite subsequent spark plug
fouling that plagued his car,
Langford managed to finish se-
cond after a furious comeback.
