OMETIMES A REAL GEM comes my way,
and one has come my way today. It will show
you that motherhood is unsupportable.

From time to time, as you
may have noticed, | mention
the women wars, and have
raised an eyebrow at the
money that flows from your
pocket via Ottawa lo groups
hike the Status of Women, the
North Shore Women's Cen-
tre, and publications like the
Marxist-Lesbian News. I
have also mentioned that the
late Liberal government pro-
mised to give the so-called
women's movement
$15,000,000 this year, which
is five times as much as they
got last year

So far, no message has ar-
rived from Our new rulers to
the effect that this waste is to
be reduced, even though they

clam that the deficnt ts
strangling us. If no action ts
taken, it will prove what we

already suspect — that the
Tones are as phoney in such
matters as the Liberals
But | digress

wing. So if was only natural
that the groups in question
alternately cooed and cheered
when Ed Broadbent appeared
before them in that election
debate — and why hisses and
cusses greeted the other
debaters, even though, in
Turner's case, his party had
spoiled them rotten.

From all the harpy-like
noises you hear, you might
think that the people who get
most of the TV tme and
print are the only organized
women's groups around. Not
so. There 1s one neglected lot
that calls itself Real Women
ot Canada.
