Lifestyles FOR TEACHERS Overseas options offered FOR THE first time, Interculture Canada is offering intercultural programs for Canadian teachers in Costa Rica, China, Thailand and India. All programs start early Ju- ly and run for six to eight weeks. “The objective is to provide elementary, secondary or college teachers the opportunity to acquire first-hand information about a country and its culture’’, says Harry Qualman, [nterculture Canada’s national director. The experience is designed to enhance the teacher’s intercultural awareness and understanding of a different country’s educational system through direct participation in local family, school and com- munity life. The teacher's school and family placements will also allow the hosting community to learn about Canada. Teachers will be assured of the full support of AFS volunteers and professional staff throughout their stay. Cultural enrichment activities will be organized. There will also be some free time to enable the participants to become familiar with the surroundings and to undertake short tourist excursions. Applications should reach Inter- culture Canada by May 30.
