Variety Club benefits from Ski for Kids Cypress event THE FIRST annual ‘Ski for Kids'’ fundraising event at Cypress Bow! on Jan. 23 raised approximately $3,000 for the Variety Club of B.C. Hosted by the Pacific Ski Club and The Variety Club of B.C., skiers from around the Lower Mainland brought in donations and pledges to the event location at Cypress Bowl, and skied for free for the day courtesy of Cypress Bow! Recreations, While the Pacific Ski Club's goal of $10,000 in donations was not met, organizers feel the event was still a success. “The effort put in by all the volunteers and participants was much appreciated, adding to the success of the event,"’ said Pacific Ski Club organizer Rick Amour. “Given the short time we had to plan this year’s Ski for Kids, next year’s should be much bigger and more widely publicized." Prizes were awarded for the most pledges collected, most money collected, best-dressed skier and more. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Variety Club of B.C. and presented at the 27th annual Variety Club Telethon on Sunday, Feb. 14. ’ NEWS photo Nell Lucente Two members of the Argyle Pipers girls curling rink, Terry Boehe (left) and Sheila Ranger, sweep a rock during the forth Shore high school champicnships at the North Shore Winter Ciub.-Argyie defeated Brackendaie 12-0, 12-2 in the best-two-out-of-three final to advance to the B.C. championships in Prince George on Feb. 25-27. - Hillside hosts senior girls gymnastics meet ree eee mw February AirCare’ Special FREE AirCaree INSPECTION with AirCare repairs If you failed the AirCare test, get your second inspection free and a guaranteed pass when you have your car repaired at AIR PRO North Vancouver ‘ASK ABOUT OUR PRE-AirCare TEST SERVICE AIR PRO NORTH VANCOUVER Opposite AirCare — 1353 McKeen Avenue _ 987-3730 "CERT. 5007, E.
