TOP SPORTSWEAR manufacturers like to put
theic hands in the soil and their feet in the sand
this spring.

Sunny beaches and flower gardens inspire a
heat wave of casual separates.

They appear in clean-lined shapes and
sunbleached colors in cotton and rayon. Color- ;
coordinated sportswear in fresh new duos
are shown in soft pastels, floral patterns,
graphic prints and white.

Garden overalls, shortalls (overalls with
shorts) and jumpers, little knitted sweaters and
short skirts, beach-wear sarongs and camp shirts,
bermuda shorts and cropped tops, bike shorts and
T-shirts all add up to outside activities in the sun.

And the bottom line in a casual look is the
footwear. The hottest shoes under the sun are little
leather flats and sandals that are comfortable for
leisure wear and still stylish.

Though designs this season range from sling-backed
sandals and mules to sturdy laceups, the best have chunky,
low heels.

Novelty details, trim, straps and interesting color combinations
are accents to the sleek and streamlined designs.
