Cap College gets funds

CAPILANO COLLEGE will
receive $200,000 in federal gov-
ernment funding that will allow its
students to combine job experi-
ence with their education.

The funds are part of the
Minister of State for Youth's co-
operative education program, one
of several youth initiatives that
help young Canadians to enter the
workforce.

Capilano College will use the
$200,000 to introduce a work and
training component into its co-
operative education project. Fund-
ing will be used to offset ad-
ministrative costs, including the
salary of the project co-ordinator.

“As the working world becomes
increasingly complex and
sophisticated, it’s obvious that
young people who have some
work experience have a decided
edge,’’ said North Vancouver MP
Chuck Cook. ‘The projects are

up to four years to launch or ex-

Carrie Chequis, 19. of Maple
Ridge, was ordered to stand trial
on break, entry and theft, and
Possession of stolen property in
connection with alleged Sept. 18,
1990 incidents at Ya Ya's Oyster
Bar in Horseshoe Bay.

She will appear Aug. 7 in
Supreme Court to set a trial date.
Before Judge W.J. Rodgers’ in
North Vancouver provincial court
on July 16:

Samuel Paul Jamieson served
one day in the sheriff's cells after
the 19-year-old North Vancouver
man was found guilty of being in
possession of a) stolen hunting
knife and sheath on June 25.

North Vancouver provincial court
on duty 15:

Kyle Douglas Prouse was fined
$280 after the 18-year-old) North
Vancouver man was found guilty
of committing mischief in connec-
tion with a Dee. 26, 1990 incident
where a door of Wall Financial
Corporation was damaged.

Prouse was also ordered to pay

$260 in restitution,

Christopher Martin Landry
served one day in the North Van-
couver sheriff's cells after the 18-
year-old Richmond man pleaded
guilty to disobeying bis curfew on
March 16, contrary to conditions
of his Aug. 9, 1990) probation
order.

Sarah Elizabeth Poucher was
fined 3100 after the 18-year-old
