A SPECIAL workshop for women
to learn more about general auto
maintenance and trouble-shooting
runs again Oct. [2 at the Jim Pat-
tison Toyota location in North
Vancouver,

“it’s designed to orientate
women with their cars,’’ explained
Cyndy Stone, who leads the mon-
thiy Women on Wheels workshop.
“TI just want to familiarize women
with their vehicles so they know
what they’re talking about.

“That way they don’t have to
feel intimidated when they take
their cars in for service.’’

Covering the practical side of
automotive preventative care, the
workshop is not intended to turn
out mechanics, she said; its aim is
to ensure the participants know the
basics of tire-changing, proper
fluid levels and so on.

“‘Most women don’t want to
admit they don’t know anything”
about cars, explained Stone, who
will be assisted by a ficenced
mechanic should any detailed
technical questions arise. “But we
all learn 2s we go.””

After the workshop — running
at 1765 Marine Dr. from 7 p.m. to

8:30 p.m. — participants will -

know when various clunks and
squeaks mean trouble is on the
way; armed with this knowledge,
they are better able to teil when
cars need service.

Part of Toyota Canada’s We
Care program, this Women on
Wheels workshop is being tried out
on the North Shore; if successful,
it will be used in other dealerships.

Women on Wheels will be held
one Wednesday evening each
