Our ‘fleet footed flat foot’ picked up a gold, silver and bronze at the North West Police and Firefighters Olympics in Seat- tle in the 10,000 metre, cross country and half marathon. Dennis is presently training two and one half hours a day preparing for the Phoenix games. The only problem is that he has no sponsorship to help him get to the Arizona city. Christine Platt and Kendra Bryson from the NSWC Marlins and Emily Johnston from the Cruisers easily won the relay for the gold medal. Kendra Bryson also won a gold medal for her perfor- mance in the SO free and Christine Platt won a silver for the 100 free. Martin Stewart of the Cruisers won a silver for the 100 back and David Heskin came Sth in the 100 breast. Over 40 Marlins from the NSWC travelled to Ab- botsford last weekend for the Abbotsford Whalers Invita- tional meet which proved to be the largest meet of the season with over 18 clubs and 600 swimmers present. Many Marlins put in_= sterling performances. In Division 1 Gillian Honeyman came 3rd in 50 free and 7th in 50 breast while Jonathan Calla came 2nd in 5O fly and 3rd in 50 back and won a silver medal as 2nd runner-up. In Division 2. Jessica Campbell came 2nd in 50 free tying the new record, 2nd in 50 fly and 50 back and 3rd in 100 I.M. She was the overall Division 2 Aggregate winner. Also in Div. 2 Chris Legault came 4th in 50 back, Sth in 100 1.M. and 7th in SO free. in Division 3 Mary-Anne Heskin came Ist in 100 free with a new record of 1.12.7 shaving a full second off the old record, had a Ist in 50 back, 2nd in 50 breast and 3rd in 100 1.M. and won the gold medal as first runner-up in her division. Cameron Wilson broke the record in 50 free with a time of 33.8, had 2nds in 50 fly and 50 breast and 3rd in 100 I.M. to also win him the gold medal as first runner-up. In Division 6 Michelle Green had 2nds in 50 fly and 100 free and came 4th in 200 I.M. to win the bronze medal again.
