football season opened
Sunday with exciting
action and_= enter-

tainment at Norgate
Park.

In Junior Bantam Division
the Stamps trounced the
Esks 34 to 14. The Stamps
winless last season, were
directed by quarterback
Kurt Larson who scored 2
T.D.s himself and running
back Mike Wild who not-
ched 3 majors on two
electrifying runs and a
screen play.

The defence played
disciplined football led by
Steve Horvath with a
blocked kick and three Q.B.
sacks.

In the other Jr. Bantam
action the Chargers blanked
the Chiefs 38-0. Scoring
included two T.D.’s_ by
Martin Bauchman and one
each by Danny Doucet, Rob
Montgomery and Danny
Meola.

Also, the Steelers played
the Vikings to a 28-18
decision. Brett Creemer ran
for 2 T.D.’s while Tim Yeo
and Ken Reed added one
T.D. each.

The Bantam division had
the Falcons controlling the
Colts 26-12. Falcons Mark
Robinson caught one T.D.
pass and ran for one other.
Rob Harrup and Tom
Neumann added the other
T.D.s. In the other Bantam
game the Patriots beat the
Titans 13-8, with outstanding
performances given by Jason
Delaney, Darren Adnerson
and Jason Galpin.

In the Flagball division the
Rockets blanked the Knights
12-0, with two long T.D.
runs by Tania Haldnse. In
the other game, the Huskies
outscored the Panthers 35-6.
Huskie scorers included two
T.D.s by Nico Berg and
others by Scott Macey,
Robin Mahood and Mandalg
Riopel. Chris Henry replied
for the Panthers.

Minor Division play saw
the Browns battle the Lions
to a 6-0 score in a defensive
Struggle. The lone score
came fromi a pass from
Adam Whyte to Rob
Mackay. Phillip Mitchell
was a stalwart on defense for
the Browns. The other
Minor games had the
Squamish Roughriders blank
the Roughies 22-0.
