The province wants to know about it

Excellent and courteous
service to visitors by in-
dividuals in the province's
hospitality sector will
receive recognition and
attention this year under
Tourism B.C.’s new and
innovative “Good Show”
program “unveiled by
Tourism Minister Pat Jordan
recently.

In previous years, the
tourism. munistry’s resident
awareness program centred
on making Bntish Colum-
bians aware of the im-
portance of tounsm, the
Province’s third largest
industry.

This year, British
Columbians who welcome
visitors with pride and ex-
tend that extra special effort
to make their visit enjoyable
will receive a_ certificate
from Premier Bill Bennett
and a special “Good Show”
pin from Tourism B.C.

COLEEN CATTELL and Cindy Shore, both residents
of the North Shore are two of the student represen-
tatives who will be working on the resident awareness
campaign. Coleen is a student at U Vic while Cindy is at
Capilano College.

The recognition’ will
Originate from visitors, who
will nominate anyone — a

waitress, a driver, a chef, a
maid, a clerk, or any other
individual — who went out
of his or her way to show
appreciation to the visitors
through such simple things
as remembering them from
last year or serving them
coffee with a special smile.

“Good Show is. our
campaign theme, a whole
new approach to resident
awareness so that Tourism
B.C. can recognize the real
strength of the hospitality
industry — the people who
make it work,” Jordan said.

“Good Show” nomination
cards will be available to
visitors on tables and from
dispensers located in hotels,
restaurants, stores and
tourist attractions.

will let the visitors and staff

Decals will also tell
visitors and residents that
the program is underway,
and a limited number of
“Good Show” pins will be
awarded to people
repeatedly singled out for
outstanding servioe.

The campaign will be
advertised in radio commer-
cials from mid-May to mid-
August, and then in June,
July and August.

Bus signs will ask visitors
and residents “Did someone
steal the show?”

Newspapers, radio and
television stations will be
keeping everyone up to date
with the distribution of
printed materials and press
releases from “Good Show
Headquarters” in Robson
Square.
