Christmas tree growing
and harvesting creates jobs
for about 450 B.C. growers
and contributes about $10
million to the provincial
economy.

This year, B.C. will harvest

more than 500,000 Christmas
trees, sold locally and to other
provinces, the U.S. and as far
suuth as Mexico.

“Families can enjoy the
experience of selecting and
cutting their own trees
through one of the ‘choose
and harvest’ commercial
operations available across the
province,” said Mike
Fleming, president of the
Southwest Christmas Tree
Association and past president
of the British Columbia
Christinas Tree Council.

Fresh-cut trees need about
a litre of water a day.

Do not put trees near heat
registers or fireplaces, and use
only approved lighting on
Christmas trees.
