Top left: The big Q is hoisted to its familiar locale at the
Lonsdale Quay in this front page photo from March 5, 1986. The
sign weighed 1,200 kilograms (3,000 pounds). The installation
-was described as an “extremely delicate operation.”

Top right: NDP hepefu! for North Vancouver-Seymour David
Schreck (left), supported by Dave Barrett, may not have been
successful during the 1983 provincial campaign, but Schreck
now sits as the MLA for North Vancouver-Lonsdale.

Bottom lett: The now-familiar blue boxes were a novelty
back in August 1990 when they were introduced by then-may-
ors Don Lanskail, Jack Loucks and Marilyn Baker.
