While White said he ran a clean campaign, he said the campaign overall in North Vancouver was “very, very dirty.” White said he and the Reform party took much criticism during the campaign from other North Vancouver candidates. During the campaign, McMartin had called for Manning to probe White’s past association with the now-defunct Western Canada Concept party, a western separatist party. White ran as the party’s North Vancouver can- didate in the 1983 provincial elec- tion. At White’s campaign office on Monday, party supporters had posted a picture of McMartin on a hallway wall. Someone had.drawn a moustache and beard on the picture. While most. North Vancouver candidates were concentrating on getting party supporters to the polls on Monday, Liberal can- didate Mobina Jaffer said the highlight of the day for her was to make sure her party supporters at the different polling stations were being fed. She said that several of White’s supporters had approached her at the polling stations and con- gratulated her on ‘‘taking the high road’’ with her campaign.
