Options for volunteers

ticipating in their communities.
The fotlowing is a sampling of the
many volunteer opportunities
available through the North Shore
Information and Volunteer Centre.

READY-set-go clinics for pre-
schoolers require people to assist
nurses with simple medical pro-
cedures, to greet the public and
help with the registration and
health booths. This is a short-term
position from May 30 to June 21
for three-hour shifts between 1:30
and 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

GOOD communication skills
and a health background wili be
helpful in filling this position of
education promoter. A Cancer
Society needs a well-organized per-
son to help promote education
programs in the community using
mail displays and presentations to
groups. Hours are flexible and
training and orientation are pro-
vided.

BOARD member with financial
planning background and fund-
raising knowledge is needed for a
Delbrook community-based local
agency. Duties include planning
goals and objectives and assessing
the agency’s programs. Orientation
provided. Monthly evening
meetings.

PATIENT, sensitive swimming
aide is needed to help instructor
with a nine-year-old autistic boy
who is very active and requires
special care in the poo!. Hours are
10 to 10:30 a.m. every Saturday.
Volunteer will have use of the pool
and sauna.

ALZHEIMER support group
fequires a person with an interest
in or knowledge of Alzheimer
Disease to attend meetings, help
lead the support group and make
