CAPILANO-HOWE SOUND MP Mary Collins was one of 15
federal cabinet ministers involved in a cabinet shuffle made Friday
_ by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

Collins was named Minister Responsible for the Status of
Women. She will also keep her Associate Minister of Defence
portfolio.

In addition to Coltins, Vancouver-Centre MP Kim Camphell was
elevated to the post of Justice Minister, Prince George-Peace River
MP Frank Oberle was appointed Forest Minister, while Richmond
MP Tom Siddon dropped his Fisheries Minister portfolio to take
up the post of Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Devetop-
ment.

A B.C. Hydro spokesman will appear before West Vancouver
District Council Monday night to give information and answer
questions regarding recent North Shore power outages caused by
winter storms.

Fohn Sheehan, B.C. Hydro vice-president of customer services,
will advise the council on why power outages occur during wind
and snow storms and what the public can do in making sure power
is restored as soon as possible.

Sheehan will also list a number of ways the public can help in
preventing power outages from happening.

Sheehan said that since the majority of power outages are caused
by trees and branches falling and snapping power lines, the public
can help to ease the situation by removing trees near power lines.
