WV resident warns of poison in area

Dear Editor:

May we, through the auspices of
the North Shore News, alert the
residents of the 3900  biock,
Westridge Avenue, that a poison
(Dithacinone .005%) has been
placed in areas accessible to
children, pets and wildlife.

To the best of our knowledge,
the poison is not contained in the
“trap’’ type of container that pest
control agencies employ for the
safety of humans and _ larger
animals.

On Oct. 20, we had to put our
Chocolate Labrador, Meggie, to
sleep. She had partaken of this
well-flavored and scented pcison.

Dear Editor:

I read with horror your front
page news of the North Vancouver
City Council contemplating a 28-
storey highrise on the old Alice
Hotel property.

As usual, this information is a
preparation. for the completion of
another monster to ruin our
beautiful waterfront which, when
we moved here 13 years ago, was
to be restricted to six storeys at the
most.

West Vancouver is a prime ex-
ample of overheight buildings and
now finally, the people are up in
arms. How nice to ride the SeaBus
to North Vancouver and enjoy the
view of our beautiful shoreline.
This building is just another wedge
for more such development. I also
objected to the Bosa Brothers high-
rise te be buiit there.

It all seems an indication that
City of North Vancouver Council
is getting more greedy all the time
and not upholding their zoning
bylaws of highrises in this area on
Lonsdale Avenue only.

This proposed highrise of 28
storeys will not only knock out our
view of the water, but will open. up
options for other highrises on the
waterfront.

I object to the trend to make
North Vancouver another West
Vancouver high-rise jungle. Why
do we need it? Is it to cater to the
big-bucks contractors?
