vat vAEX Vopni seeks WV ald. seat VALERIE McDermott Vopni, a resident of West Vancouver for the past 30 years, recently declared her candidacy for a West Vancouver aldermanic position. Thirty-year-old Vopni said she has been active in community work, In 1972 the homemaker was an area captain for the Caulfeild Heart Fund, and in 1974 she was director of the North Shore Family Services and director of Chester- field House. in 1978 she was the publicity chairman for Designer Home '79, which raised over $55,000. In 1980 she was a member of the district's Advisory Planning Committee, founding director of the Arts, Sciences and Technology Centre, member of the Vancouver Public Aquarium acquisitions committee and publicity chairman of the Caulfeild School Craft Fair. She is also one of the organizers and founding governors of Coll- ingwood School. The North Vancouver-born Vopni is also the wife of Richard and mother of 16-year-old Michael and 12-year-old Kevin, WY ald. concerned with recycling WEST VANCOUVER Ald. Don Griffiths announced his candidacy for re-election this week. Griffiths, 64, said he is par- ticularly concerned with matters relating to recycling, flood control and road maintenance and repair.
