Shore swimmers net 38 medals NORTH SHORE swimmers grabbed 38 medals in com- petition at the B.C. short course age group champion- ships a week ago at the UBC Aquatic Centre. And while it was a good weekend all-round, it was a particularly successful outing for two of the swimmers — 12-year-old Michelle Woods and Chrissy Hashimoto, 14, both swimming: for- the Chena swim club. Woods, competing in the - 1} and 12 age group, won a total of nine medals, winn- ing three eventa and finishing as runner-up in the other six, Hashimote, meanwhile, struck: gold five times and silver once as well as earning kudos for the best swim of the meet in her age group. Woods won the gold medals in the 400 metre freestyle, the 200 metre backstroke and the 400 metre individual medly. Her silver medal performances came in the 100, 200 and 8 metre freestyle races, the 100 metre backstroke, the 200 metre breaststroke and the 200 metre individual medly. Hashimoto won gold medals in the 50 and 100 metre freestuyle, the 100 and 200 metre butterfly and 200 metre IM events and won the silver medal in the 200 metre freestyle.
