Monthly tutor meetings provide tutors with an opportunity to share their questions and ideas with each other. Pre-testing and _ post- testing occurs with all children on the tutoring pro- gram. In this way, a pupil’s progress can be assessed and educational plans can be in- itiated and revised. In North Vancouver, a variety of tutorial programs have been designed to serve children with diverse educa- tional needs. The Orton-Gillingham program is a multi-sensory remedial reading program designed for elementary children who have specific language disabilities. Tutors attend an 18 hour training program. They work closely with the learning assistance teacher and volunteer coor- dinator. The Articulation program is for elementary pupils who have articulatory speech pro- blems.
