The self-contained facility will enable the North Shore Jewish congregation to con- solidate all its programs and services at the one location. . Those programs and ser- vices include the Hebrew school, pre-school, religious services, social events, recreation and = ad- ministrative offices. The Hebrew § school, directed by Paul Azaroff, meets. twice weekly after regular school hours and presently has an enrolment of 50 students. Weekly meetings of the pre-school emphasize Jewish holidays and customs for children aged three to five. For nearly 10 years the congregation has conducted monthly Sabbath services following the Conservative liturgy, together with the an- nual Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur services. During that time many North Shore youngsters have celebrated their Bar and Bat cw we mw ey ' i y 4 ' Mitzvah with the gregation, which is seeking a full-time rabbi. The opening of the In- glewood centre comes in time for next month’s world- wide Jewish “High Holidays” which start Sept. 8 with Rosh Hashonah, the Jewish New Year. Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) — the second con- now major holiday of the period © and the holiest day in the Hewish calendar — falls on Sept. 16. Services marking these dates will be held at the new facility. Potential members of. the North Shore Jewish con- gregation should call Emmy Maerov (926-3967) or Nor- man Greenberg (922-2601).
