The three Separate relays will unravel like ribtons across the country as more than 5,000 Canadians either walk, cycle, ri’2 horseback, cross-country ski or snowmobile across more than 16,000 km of the Trans Canada Trail. On September 9th >! three watér vessels will be ceremoniously ‘poured into a newly constructed fountain in the National Capital Region to symbolize the new bond linking coast to coast to coast. Water from the Pacific will be drawn in Victoria on April 7th kicking-off the western portion of the relay. The team will reach ‘Trans Canada Trail _ You're Invited to BE A PART OF IT on April 13th the North Shore on April 13th. Starting with an early moming ce.ebration at Horseshoe Bay Park, the relay w:ll be cheered on by hundreds of schoo! children as it weaves its way past the Cleveland Dam where it will stop for a presentation at the salmon hatchery. Cake is being served at Edgemont Village where vuu can see displays, speeches and a dermenstration of skilled cyclists. Stopping ‘ong enough to view the City of North Vancouver's new trail head and Trans - Canada Trail signs at Mosquito Creek Park, the relay team will carry the water vessel past the Squamish Nation cemetery on its way to St. Paul's Church. Chief and Council will be on hand for a presentation of drumming and story telling in front of the church. Next the North Shore celebrations will - move to Waterfront Park where there will be a parade, displays, cake and the opportunity to have pictures taken in front of the water vessel with a Mountie in full uniform. The North Vancouver Trans Canada Trail Celebration will end only after twenty members of the Vancouver Open Water Swim Association swim 4km across Burrard Inlet. They will be accompanied ay members of the Squamish Nation and Mayor B. A. Sharp in Bill Reid's incredible sea canoe carved from a single tree.
