A 14-year-old Seymour
Golf & Country Club
member is currently
playing in the cradle of
the game.

Tina Mabanta, a member
of the North Vancouver club
for the past four years, is cur-
renuy representing Canada at
the Junior World Cup in St.
Andrews, Scotland.

The Grade 9 St. Thomas
Aquinas high school student
took up the game just three
years ago. A year later she
broke 100 for the first time,
and at age 13 broke the 80
stroke barrier.

A promising future was
hinted at when she won the
first tournament she entered
— the Little Masters at age 12
-— and followed that up a year
later by winning the District 2-
5-8 Championship.

Her best-ever result in international com-
petition came last December as she finished
in the cop ten at the Hewlett Packard Arizona

Silver Bell Championships in Scottsdale.

Currently listed as an 11-handicap,
Mabanta is coached by Seymour associate
professional Ann Carroll.

Mabanta qualified for the Junior Worid
Cup in May, and carlier this month led a the
