Apartheid and ‘the savage tactics being used by the South African authorities against their domestic opponents, both black and white, are _ rightly condemned by all civilized onlookers. But in Canada’s case the moral outrage is mix- ed with some lack of logic and more than. a lit- tle blatant hypocrisy. Nobody is demanding a similar boycott of our extensive trade with Communist Russia and China, whose human rights records are con- siderably worse. than . South Africa’s.. And ’ Canada’s treatment of its own native Indians,. though. non-violent, leaves much to be desired. Born in County Cork, ireland, 82 years ago, Marjoxie Porter came to Canada at the tender ~- age of 10 months. After a year ‘in Toronto her parents head: _ed for: Calgary and thence on - ‘to.
