His new operation WVF Sales Ltd., formerly West Van Furniture and Ap- pliances, offers the same honest, dependable service, but Fleming, saw where he could fill a need and offer a different kind of service in these tough economic times. One new twist he wants to let people know about is that he is selling goods on con- signment at his 1582 Marine Dr. location. “We're selling used furniture — high quality used furniture. 1 want to let my customers know if they've got a nice piece of fumiture to sell , bring i to us. We're the profes- sionals and charge a small commission.” WVF Sales Ltd. has already sold more that 50,000 worth of consignment goods for his clients in just 11 weeks. But consignment selling isn’t the only retail trick Flem- ing has up his sleeve for his 1582 Marine Dr. location. He is going to specialize in bedding, hide-a-beds and 1469 MARINE DR. 922-6506 1582 MARINE DR. WEST VAN lawn furniture, but is taking a really different approach to selling appliances. It’s what he calls “catalogue selling’. Fleming says: “If someone comes in here and wants to buy a fridge, stove, washer, | will simply sell it to them for 10 per cent on cost plus car- tage & service. “What I'm telling people is to go out and get the best quote, that they can, phone me the model’ number and I can tell them if I can save them a dollar and make myself a dollar, at the same time.” Instead of going out of business, Don Fleming's “go- ing out for business”, and he means it. He's asking all his friends and long-time customers to make a deal with WVF Sales. That goes for his other store, West-Van Furniture Sales Ltd., located next to McDonald’s at 1469 Marine Drive, too. “A few wholesalers in Van- couver retired & gone out of business & have put their trust in me and given me some really beautiful fur- niture,” said Flerning. “Top of the line but one shot items.” Mostly dining room suites, occasional tables, lamps, chesterfield and chairs, loveseats at storewide savings. Fleming’s slogan ‘Phone and Save’ says exactly what it means, “You tell me what you want and I'll get it for you, anything in the household fur- niture and — appliance business,” says Don Fleming.
