A7 - Sunday, August 5, 1984 - North Shore News Unite for a big, Dear Editor: The Confederation of Regions Western Party can, if enough of our Candidates are elected from the four Western Provinces, become a political block to establish Western Power. We in the West, can have for the first time in our history, a big Voice in what happens if we elect enough C.O.R. Western Party Candidates to hold the balance of power. We must learn a lesson from Quebec and quit split- ting our votes amongst three parties, all of whom are con- trolled in Ontario. JI know Quebec has two things in common which makes them a cohesive group, their Dear Editor: The news reports of a Viet- nam war veteran in the States killing 22 people and woun- ding 20 more in a restaurant; then the Indian Ambassador to Canada being mobbed in Winnipeg while police stood by, is very disturbing. In regard to the first item I think youth is brutalized to the point of committing murder, organized as war. Then we have repercussions of this brain-washing and wonder where the terrorists come from. I believe men should be the protectors of Dear Editor: Just a short note to thank you for including our story, **More than just aches and pains’’ in a recent issue. | wish you could have been in our office as the phone rang, and rang, and went on ring- ing — all requests for further informavion about arthritis! ‘“Ahal’’ you may think “We have lots of elderly residents on the North Shore!’’ But the fact is, ar- thritis is no respecter of age. More than 3,500 of B.C ’s estimated 320,000 arthritis sufferers are children under ~« \ bay -+g boats language and their religion. We- in the West must establish our own reason for unity and in my opinion it must be the fact that we are Westerners. I am sure we are all very proud of our western heritage, and western roots, that we are sons and daughters of pioneers who came from 100 Nations of the World, with different ethnic backgrounds, different languages, different religions and very proud to have established a western way of life and language which is now common to us all. We have come from multi- culturalism, and a society in conflict, into a western society different in many o ‘umbrella the family, not the destroyers. Even rats. will fight for the survival of their young. Are we less than rats? Our youth must not be brutalized, they are Canada’s future generation and need a ray of hope in their lives. We must demand a stop to the testing of the cruise missile in Canada. It is a weapon with ‘‘first-use capability’’ and is a serious escalation of the arms race, being almost impossible to detect. If it is used (God for- bid) it definitely is not an ‘umbrella for security’. It No respecter the age of 16. There’s no cure for ar- thritis — yet — but early diagnosis and treatment can bring tt under control. Thank you for helping us get the message across Danda Humphreys Development & Communications. We must now become westerners and we must vote for the West. There is only one party, The Confederation of Regions Western Party, which has Western directors, Western policies, Western loyalties. It is the only party which will never become dominated by Ontario or Quebec, and we can have politically the best of both worlds. If the Conservatives win we will not be taking anything away from the Con- servatives as long as they treat us fairly because we will support them. If the Liberals win and they treat us fairly we can also support them. The guidelines of course will be ‘‘Is it good for the West?”’ If we have the balance of ower we can support or defeat either one of the par- ties, which will establish western political power and the best of both worlds. * Let us then join, work for, and finance the first and only western party ever assembl- ed in the West. The people from Manitoba, Saskat- chewan, Alberta and B.C. are now joining and can- didates are being nominated. What about you? Don’t you believe it’s our turn?
