Story and Photos by Ellsworth Dickson Los Senta Architect Peter Smith and his wife Trudy wanted everything in a house and were fortunate enough to get it. Ten years ago they designed and built a stunning contemporary home in the Lookout Point area of Deep Cove. Aptly named, ‘Lookout .Point is high on a rocky cliff (really high) and commands a 180 degree view from looking up Indian Arm to the north-east, through a sweeping of ocean and islands to the south-west view down Burrard inlet. Although many Cove homes have steep lots with many steps and = steep driveways, the Smith house has a level driveway. There are four levels to the house counting the crawl space and workshop. The 2,000 sq.ft. includes three bedrooms and a large office on the top floor, a living and dining room that joins the deck and a nearby kitchen with a skylight and wrap- around glass for the view. There is also a double car- port; laundry room, and a secluded deck off the master bedroom. Another convenient feature is the built-in vac- cuum system. There is-also a gas fireplace. The panhandle shaped lot, being a rocky knoll has the natural landscaping and re- quires no maintenance. oes & Top, the marvelous view from the deck.
